My name is mike r. baker and I’m an illustrator. What’s the big deal? Well, I haven’t said that before. I’ve always been saying “I want to be a” when speaking of illustrator or artist. I know I have the talent. I’m still learning technique. I’ve done a few local things professionally but nothing I can hold up and say “see what I did” yet. But I feel like I’m on the cusp of being what I want to be – better, I’ve crossed to that side. I’ve still a long way to go. But I just wanted to take this moment to say it. My name is mike r. baker and I’m an illustrator.

Yes!!! You were always a fine fine illustrator!! I can’t believe you are stating this now….but its about time everyone knows about it (especially yourself)! Heck yeah!!!
Good for you for saying it outloud. I struggle with this myself. People ask what I do and I use words like “aspire to be” because I don’t have that “proof” I can show. But illustrating is part of how I am–not just what I do. I need to start stating it.
Ofcourse you’re an illustrator. I can’t wait to buy your first picture book. I can’t wait to say I’m one. I’m finally gonna take some photoshop and Illustrator classes this summer. Yaaay me!
